Mirror Setup

05 steps

Everything you need to mount and power your mirror is included in the box — whether you choose the plug-in or hardwire installation option.

In the box:

  • LIFX Smart Mirror
  • Mounting screws
  • Plastic anchors
  • Connectors
  • Cable management straps
  • Plug-in cable
  • Hardwire pigtail

You'll Need:

  • A smartphone (iOS 18.0+ or Android 8.1+)
  • The LIFX app (download from App Store or Google Play)
  • A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (Most smart devices require 2.4 GHz. If your router combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, that's usually fine.)
  • Your Wi-Fi password
  • A Phillips head screwdriver
  • A drill with a 5/16" drill bit

Important Notes:

  • Keep your phone near the mirror during setup.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  • Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the mirror to use.

Hardwiring

Turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation. If you're unsure, consult a qualified electrician.

Powering the mirror (choose one)

  • Plug-in. Connect the included plug cable into one of the ports on the back, route it through one of the 4 cable channels, and plug into a wall outlet
  • Hardwire. Connect the hardwire pigtail to the product and wire to your junction box (Live/Load + Neutral; no ground needed). Always turn off mains power first.

Hanging orientation (choose one)

  • Vertical. Mount screws 10" apart
  • Horizontal. Mount screws 14" apart

Installation steps

  1. Mark two level points on the wall using the spacing above.
  2. Drill holes with a 5/16" bit and insert the included anchors (suitable for drywall; use alternative hardware for other surfaces).
  3. Screw in the mounting screws, leaving a small gap between screw head and wall.
  4. Align the mirror's brackets to the screws, fit through the '+' cutout, then lower the fixture to lock it in place.

Tips

Don't route the cable behind the mirror where it can be crushed.

If the connection point is above the mirror's midpoint, use the wire hook to secure it during installation.

To factory reset, hold the first three buttons for 10 seconds until the light cycles through colors.

Select your device below to get step-by-step setup instructions tailored to your phone. We recommend using the Matter QR code method for the quickest and most reliable connection — you'll find the QR code in your product manual or printed on the back of your smart mirror.

Accessing Button Setup

  • From the Mirror Control Screen, tap ⋯ then select Light Settings
  • Tap Buttons Setup — you'll see all 4 mirror buttons listed

  • Power, Sun Cycle, and FX buttons can all be customised.

Factory defaults

  • Power Button — Single Press: On/Off
  • Sun Cycle Button — Single Press: Step through CCT colour temperature (Make-up Check).
  • FX Button — Single Press: Cycle through FX.

Configuring a button

  1. Tap the button you want to configure (e.g. Sun Cycle Button).
  2. Choose the press type you want to assign: Single Press, Double Press, or Long Press.
  3. Set the Target — control the mirror itself, or other LIFX products, groups, or locations.

To control other Matter devices (Apple Home, Samsung SmartThings, etc.), set up button actions inside your Matter ecosystem app.

If a button triggers both LIFX and Matter devices, you can disable the LIFX action on that button to prevent duplicate triggers.

I was very apprehensive when it came to purchasing this mirror because I felt that it was too inexpensive and therefore likely cheap. I was very wrong.

Not only does the mirror have the benefit of having a mirror in the room, but it is a legitimate source of light. I’m able to get ready in the morning using the perfect lighting, not to mention the fun FX that are available in times where it’s not being used.

I would rate this product five out of five stars and more if I could. Don’t be as apprehensive
as I was. Get the product, it’s legit.

The brightness is good. Plenty bright for shaving or putting on makeup. I have several LIFX bulbs with amazing colors and this mirror is no different.
The mirror is also quite large. Mine is installed in the bathroom but it also would do well in a bedroom or main entryway.
The only thing I wish could be improved on is the motion on some of the themes. Some themes when played have very smooth color transitions while others are quite choppy. Not sure if firmware could improve this or not. Also, the anti fog feature designed to clear the mirror when taking a shower works, but is slow, especially if you don’t have an exhaust fan. What seems to work in this situation is to turn the heating element on prior to starting your shower instead of waiting until after. Then when you get out the mirror is already clear.
Something else you can do if you have a smart home is automation. I’m using Apple Home, and have installed a motion detector with presence sensing on the bathroom ceiling. When you walk into the bathroom the mirror turns on and stays on until you leave the room, and shuts off automatically after no presence is detected for about 15 seconds. Not a necessary setup of course, but it does work quite well when getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Overall I’m pretty happy with it.

Love the mirror was easy to set up and came with all of the hardware and wiring to connect either via outlet or directly to the wiring. Like all of the LIFX items I have purchased in the past the set up was easy and gives me many options to adjust my lighting based on my mood. Continue to make great products and I will continue purchasing them.

legit amazing. I got it and hung it myself immediately. My bathroom light sucks. (till now). One recommendation fro LIFX. If you can include a paper version inside that you could unfold and put on the wall to hang with the locations for screws, it would make it much easier. I ended up creating my own but its big so I had to use a whole much of different papers and then try to figure the height

What are the dimensions of the LIFX Mirror?

The LIFX Mirror measures 36 x 22 inches with a frameless tempered glass design. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically to suit your space. It sits at a depth of 1.73 inches from the wall.

Do the buttons work straight out of the box?

Yes — all four buttons (On/Off, Makeup Check, Cycle White Shades, and De-Fog) work immediately without any app setup or Wi-Fi connection required. Just plug in and go.

Can the buttons control other smart devices, not just LIFX lights?

Absolutely. The LIFX Mirror is Matter-compatible, which means the customizable buttons can be configured to control any Matter-enabled smart home device — not just LIFX products. Set the mood across your whole room from one mirror.

Does the De-Fog button work as a smart/scheduled feature?

The De-Fog button is tactile only — it activates when pressed and isn't available as a scheduled or app-controlled automation. Think of it as a reliable physical shortcut, always there when you need it.

Can I control the front and back lights independently?

Yes. The LIFX Mirror has four lighting modes — Surface Light (front only), Backlight (rear only), Both On, and Mirror Only — giving you full independent or combined control over how your mirror lights up.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

No. The LIFX Mirror plugs directly into a standard power outlet — no hardwiring, no electrician, no hub required. Connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and you're ready to go in minutes. For a cleaner wall finish, hardwired installation is also possible and can be completed by an experienced DIYer or licensed electrician.

What is a smart mirror?

A smart mirror is a mirror with built-in technology — typically LED lighting, touch or button controls, and sometimes app or voice connectivity — that goes beyond simple reflection. Smart mirrors can adjust brightness and color temperature, offer preset lighting modes, and integrate with your smart home, making everyday routines like getting ready faster and easier.

What's the difference between an LED mirror and a smart mirror?

An LED mirror simply refers to a mirror with built-in LED lighting for illumination. A smart mirror goes further, adding features like adjustable modes, app or voice control, and smart home integration. The LIFX SuperColor Mirror is both — an LED mirror with smart, connected functionality built in.

Are lighted vanity mirrors worth it?

Yes, for most people who do makeup, grooming, or skincare regularly. Lighted vanity mirrors reduce shadows and color distortion from overhead or window lighting, making it easier to apply makeup accurately and spot details in low light. The investment often pays off in fewer touch-ups and better results, especially with adjustable brightness and color temperature.

Can a bathroom mirror have built-in lights safely?

Yes, as long as the mirror is designed and rated for bathroom use. Look for appropriate moisture/damp ratings and proper installation away from direct water contact, such as inside a shower. Bathroom-rated LED mirrors are built to handle the humidity of everyday bathroom conditions safely.
