Low Voltage Set-Ups

LIFX Outdoor Lights arenโ€™t your typical low-voltage fixtures. Spot, Path, and Neon Flex deliver SuperBright output with Polychrome color-morphing effects that can completely transform your garden โ€” but that performance comes with a few setup requirements.

To get the best results, make sure you have:

  1. Solid Wi-Fi coverage reaching your furthest light. Use your phone to test signal strength in the exact locations you plan to install.
  2. A 300W (or higher) 15V transformer. These lights are powerful, so confirm your transformer can handle the total load. Refer to the Transformer Requirements calculations below.
  3. 12-gauge outdoor wiring. Thicker cable means less voltage drop and longer allowable runs. You can use 14- or 16-gauge, but expect reduced placement distance.

LIFX Spot Lights: 0
LIFX Neon Flex Outdoor: 0

2. Select the voltage output terminal your transformer has for an accurate calulation.

3. Based on your selections, you can install your lights up to a maximum distance from your transformer on a single wire.

Transformer Requirements

Total Wattage Required:

Based on the number of lights selected, we recommend the use of a 300W Transformer with a 15V Output Terminal.

All calculations on this page are based on 300W Transfomer. As per manufacturer instructions, it is recommended not to exceed 80% of the advertised wattage, in order to allow for wattage loss across the wiring.
