How do I find my Matter code if I've lost the manual?
Your Matter code is unique to your fixture and required after installing and turning on your light. It's printed on your manual, so keep it somewhere safe once you've set up your light. The code can also be found on the fixture itself, so if you've misplaced the manual, check there for the code.
Can I install the LIFX Ceiling in a bathroom or other damp location?
The LIFX Ceiling is rated suitable for damp locations, but it is not suitable for use under direct dust and moisture exposure. Avoid installing it in areas with direct water contact, such as inside a shower enclosure.
Do I need a smart home hub to use the LIFX Ceiling?
No hub is required for standard use — the LIFX Ceiling connects directly to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and is controlled through the LIFX app. A Matter-enabled hub (Google, Apple, or other) is only needed if you want to use Matter's home and away features.
Can I dim my LIFX Ceiling using a regular wall dimmer switch?
We recommend controlling brightness through the LIFX app rather than a physical wall dimmer. Since the fixture connects to Wi-Fi for smart features, using an incompatible wall dimmer may cause flickering or disrupt its network connection. For tactile control at the wall, consider the LIFX Smart Dimmer — it installs in place of your existing switch, offers smooth dimming with a built-in LED brightness indicator, and stays connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for app, voice, and scene control alongside your LIFX Ceiling.
How long will my LIFX Ceiling light last?
The LIFX Ceiling uses high-quality LEDs rated for 25,000 hours of use. With typical daily use of a few hours, that translates to many years of reliable performance before you'd need a replacement.
Can I control my LIFX Ceiling with voice commands?
Yes. Once your LIFX Ceiling is connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and set up in the LIFX app, you can control it using voice commands through compatible smart home platforms such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. Simply link your LIFX account within your voice assistant's app to get started.
How do I set up my LIFX Luna to use smart features?
You'll need a device running iOS or Android and a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. Download the LIFX App and sign in, make sure your light is on (if it's been on for more than a few minutes, unplug and replug it to enter pairing mode), then hit the + button in the bottom right of the app and follow the prompts.
Can I control the lamp without Wi-Fi or the app?
Yes. The quick control buttons on top of the Luna let you make instant adjustments — no Wi-Fi needed. Just plug in the lamp and use the buttons directly: ON/OFF, Sunrise/Sunset, Cycle FX, Dimming, and Brightness.
What do the ON/OFF button presses do?
The ON/OFF button offers two ways to control the Luna: a short press gives instant on/off, while a long press fades the light on or off with a sunrise or sunset effect. This means you can choose a quick toggle when you need light right away, or a gradual transition for easing into or out of the day. It works straight out of the box with no Wi-Fi or app needed.
What is Matter and does Luna support it?
Yes. It's Matter compatible, connecting seamlessly to Apple Home, Google Home, and SmartThings without needing a separate hub. Matter is the new industry standard for smart home devices, so it future proofs your setup: your light stays compatible as new platforms and devices join the ecosystem, instead of being locked into just one.
Can Luna buttons be configured to control other Matter device?
Yes, the LIFX Luna's buttons can be configured to control other Matter-enabled devices, not just the lamp itself. Once you've added the Luna to a Matter-enabled hub like Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or SmartThings, its buttons can be bound to trigger those other smart home devices. This turns the Luna into more than just a lamp — it becomes a physical remote for your broader smart home setup.
Can I schedule Luna to wake me up each morning like a sunrise?
Yes. The LIFX app's Schedule & Routine features lets you preset daily lighting, including a Wake Alarm that triggers a Sunrise effect at a set time (e.g., 7:00am). Set it up for your bedroom or the Luna specifically, and it will gradually brighten each morning to ease you awake instead of switching on abruptly.
