Everyday Lightstrip Setup

Everything you need to install and style your Everyday Lightstrip is included in the box — no hub required.

In the box:

  • 1 x Everyday Lightstrip (240")
  • 1 x Wi-Fi Controller
  • 1 x Plug in Power Supply
  • 1 x User Manual with Matter QR Code

You’ll Need:

  • A smartphone (iOS 18.0+ or Android 8.1+)
  • The LIFX app (download from App Store or Google Play
  • A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (Most smart devices require 2.4 GHz. If your router combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, that’s usually fine.)
  • Your Wi-Fi password

Important Notes:

  • Keep your phone near the light during setup.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the light to use.

Installation

  1. Plan your full run before fixing anything. Lay the strip out to check the fit, and decide which end the controller sits at — make sure a power outlet is within reach of the cord from that end.
  2. If you need to cut the strip to length, do this before mounting. Cut only at the scissors marks printed on the strip.
  3. If you need to bend the strip, avoid 90° or sharper corners along the lit sections. If a sharp corner is unavoidable, bend at a cut point instead.
  4. Clean the surface, ensuring it's free from dust and dirt. Allow it to dry before proceeding.
  5. Peel the backing off the strip and carefully place it into position. Press firmly between the LEDs along the full length, applying pressure for at least 30 seconds. Smooth along the strip to ensure it's fully adhered. The end of the tape also has a connector with adhesive — peel and stick this down too.
  6. Connect the strip to the controller, then plug into a standard indoor outlet.

Tips

  • Apply once to your final position — the adhesive will not hold reliably if removed and reapplied.
  • This product is for indoor use only — not suitable for dust or moisture.
  • If you connect an additional strip after the controller is already powered on, press all buttons on the controller simultaneously and hold for about 4 seconds. A light will run the full length as it detects and counts all connected pieces.
  • To factory reset, press and hold all buttons on the controller for approximately 10 seconds.
  • Do not use near ovens, radiators, heaters, or other excessively hot environments.
  • Clean only with a soft dry cloth while unpowered. Do not use cleaning agents.

Accessing Button Setup

  • From the Lightstrip Control Screen, tap ⋯ then select Light Settings
  • Tap Buttons Setup — you'll see all 4 Lightstrip buttons listed

Factory defaults

  • Power Button — Single Press: On/Off
  • Plus Brightness — Single Press: Increase brightness
  • Minus Brightness — Single Press: Decrease brightness
  • FX Button — Single Press: Cycle through FX.

Configuring a button

  1. Tap the button you want to configure (e.g. FX Button).
  2. Choose the press type you want to assign: Single Press, Double Press, or Long Press.
  3. Set the Target — control the Lightstrip itself, or other LIFX products, groups, or locations.
  4. Set the Action — toggle on/off, change brightness, switch colours, and more. Some actions run locally; others use the LIFX Cloud.
  5. Tap Save — your button configuration is complete.
