Permanent Light Setup
04 steps
Everything you need to install and onboard your Permanent Lights is included in the box.
In the box:
- 30 lights (50ft) spread across 2 x 25ft lengths (Extendable up to 120 light / 200ft).
- 2 x 10ft extension cables to help customise your install.
- Screw in and adhesive mounting options (includes 20 installation clips)
- Mains Power Supply
You’ll Need:
- A smartphone (iOS 18.0+ or Android 8.1+)
- The LIFX app (download from App Store or Google Play
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (Most smart devices require 2.4 GHz. If your router combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, that’s usually fine.)
- Your Wi-Fi password
Important Notes:
- Keep your phone near the light during setup.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
- Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the light to use.
Before you start — test indoors first
- Connect all pieces together and add the light to your app before mounting outside
- If any pieces aren't lighting up, press the button on the controller for 2–3 seconds — a light will run the full length of the string as it detects and counts all connected pieces
Mounting method (choose one)
- Short-term — clean the surface, peel the adhesive backing, and press each light firmly in place for at least 60 seconds
- Permanent — use both the adhesive backing to position the lights, then secure with the included mounting screws spaced 19.7" / 50cm apart. Do not overtighten the screws.
Installation steps
- Plan your layout — measure the space and mark where each light will sit using chalk or masking tape.
- Connect the power supply (4ft), two 25ft strings of lights, and the controller (3.28ft) in sequence. Use the extra 10ft cables to bridge gaps if needed. Screw all connections firmly to ensure they are watertight.
- Cap any unused female connectors with the included end caps — screw fully closed.
- Mount each light using the adhesive backing and/or mounting screws.
- Plug the controller into a GFCI-protected outdoor power outlet.
Extending the string (optional)
- Up to 8 x 25ft sections (200ft total) can be connected using extension cables sold separately. Maximum load is 120W across all sections.
Custom length (optional)
- Unplug the product completely before cutting.
- Decide where to split the string and cut the wire in 2 places, removing the excess section.
- Strip back the white casing 2", then strip each of the three inner wires back 1/2" to expose the copper.
- Lift the colored levers on the Splicing Connector, insert each wire into the matching color slot (brown, yellow, blue), then press the levers down to clamp in place. Repeat on the other wire end.
- Slide the black end caps from the Coupler set over the wire ends, tuck the splicing connector and wiring into the cap, fit the two sides together, and screw shut firmly.
Tips
- Use only outdoor-rated three-wire extension cords with a three-prong grounding plug.
- Keep at least 25ft from pools and spas. Keep all plugs and receptacles dry. Do not submerge.
- Do not secure with staples, nails, or other sharp or conductive materials — do not damage the wire.
- Do not hang ornaments or other objects from the cord or lights.
- Adhesive mounting may cause surface damage if removed and is not recommended for brick or concrete.
- To factory reset, press and hold the controller button for 5–7 seconds.
