Summary

The biggest thing most LIFXers will notice in this update is a new effect—we wanted to get it to you all in time for the holidays, so we hope you enjoy playing with it!


This release also has a second round of usability improvements to getting started on iOS, which you can read more on below. We also added a voting area to settings to get more feedback from the community on awesome new features you all want. 

Since we always want to put the ‘fun’ in functional, we added in a New Years Eve experience too that you’ll see pop up on the day when you’re ready to party. 

 

New Effect	‘Twinkle’ is here just in time for the holidays. Get sparkly, star-like lights by activating it with the pre-set ‘Stardust’ theme (also new!) or change it to use any Theme that takes your fancy. (Hot tip: Love an extra-Christmas-y vibe? Use the Christmas Theme with Twinkle to get some red and green extra-festive flashing action).
Vote for Features	You can now have your say on what new features you’d like to see in the LIFX app. We’ve introduced feature voting in the settings tab—you’ll find this by clicking the cog in the bottom menu. We want to ensure we’re spending more time working on things you’ll love. We want each update to have some fun, new and useful additions, not just functional.
Setup experience	Part two of our work on iOS ‘Getting Started’ screens. We’ve built in some timely prompts to guide you when we can detect common issues, like if your phone doesn’t have the right permissions to allow us to add your products.
Holiday surprise	The hidden surprises keep coming gang! Keep your eyes peeled on NYE for something extra-special 👀 We'll drop it on your dashboard ahead of the celebrations so you can party your way into 2023 in hyper-colored style.
